First Annual A2SE Energy All-Star Awards

Recognising leadership, innovation and pioneering spirit in energy efficiency and decentralised energy

To recognise pioneers and unsung heroes in energy efficiency, peak demand management and distributed generation, the Australian Alliance to Save Energy announced the First Annual A2SE Energy All-Star Awards at this year’s Summer Study. Nominated by peers and voted on by a panel of industry leaders, the winners have all demonstrated exemplary dedication, innovation and passion in this space.

We congratulate the recipients of the 2012 A2SE Energy All-Star Awards:

Energy Efficiency

Adjunct Professor Alan Pears (RMIT University)

Dr Pears’ has been advocating for improved energy efficiency in Australia for over thirty years.  He has been instrumental in bringing to life some of Australia’s most important energy efficiency initiatives such as the Home Energy Advisory Service, public information and education, appliance energy labeling and mandatory building insulation regulations.

Peak Demand Management

Dr David Crossley, Energy Futures Australia & Regulatory Assistance Project

Dr Crossley has been a leader in demand management policy and practice for more than thirty years, both in Australia and abroad. He played a key role in the first phase of demand management in Australia as the inaugural director of energy planning for the Victorian Government in the 1980s. Dr Crossley was also responsible for planning and establishing the Sustainable Energy Development Authority New South Wales (SEDA). He has also contributed to important projects for the International Energy Agency Demand Side Management Programme and has worked with the Regulatory Assistance Project in providing assistance on demand management and energy efficiency to government, regulators and the electricity industry in China.

Distributed Generation

Dr Muriel Watt, Energy Policy & Photovoltaics at IT Power (Australia) & Chair, Australian PV Association

Dr Watt is one of Australia’s premier authorities on Solar Photovoltaic technology and is internationally recognised for her contribution to the Solar industry. The Award recognises her for her personal commitment and tireless contribution to advancing the energy sector in Australia, encouraging the up-take of solar in our energy mix in order to advance distributed generation.
